Micah 6:8
Psalm 56
Yes, your life matters.
Some of you are still sheltering in place, but fear not: I'm here to keep you sane and entertained.
One could hardly ask for much more than that, now could one?
I'm certainly glad that FDR didn't actually respond to the attack at Pearl Harbor the way he was portrayed in "The Further Adventures of Nick Danger" by the Firesign Theatre. In that comedy gem, the President interrupts the broadcast of the detective show just as Nick is about to reveal whodunit and how he knew. What the ersatz FDR says is that he has decided that the United States will unconditionally surrender, then sends us back to Nick Danger. Naturally, we've missed the reveal and only hear the congratulations for his having solved the case. Ah - I miss discovering wonderful bits like that.
Still, we need to remember that eighty years ago today, forces of the Empire of Japan attacked our naval station at Pearl Harbor in the Hawaiian Islands, thus ensuring the defeat of the Axis powers by bringing these United States into the fray and starting up the Arsenal of Democracy. Every cloud has a silver lining, one supposes, and this was certainly the lining for this attack - the American people, in their righteous might, won through to absolute victory.
Keep Calm and Don't Stay Away.
I'll be back tomorrow.
The mental health issues related to our lockdown and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, has a 24 hour helpline: 800-950-6264.
