19 July 2020 - Plague Journal Day 129

Micah 6:8
John 4:23-24
Yes, your life matters.

We all are still sheltering in place, but I'm here to keep you sane and entertained.
One could hardly ask for much more than that, now could one?

It's Sunday again, the day we come together to worship God - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Join us at GPUMC if you're able, but please join our live stream here if you're not. (note - That's a direct link to the live stream which won't actually be live until around 9:30AM EDT. Check out past services and such at our YouTube channel.)

A fun side note about today's worship is that my Dad is singing and playing his guitar as the special music. Since we can't have choirs and congregational singing, we're trying to make sure we still praise the Lord in song each week as we come together.

Keep Calm and Stay Away.
I'll be back tomorrow.

18 July 2020 - Plague Journal Day 128

Micah 6:8
Psalm 119:105
Yes, your life matters.

Why all the art honoring Dr. Fauci? Isn't he the guy who said the virus wouldn't come to the US? and that the President shouldn't shut down travel from China? and that even if it did come here, it wouldn't be much of a problem? and that there's no reason to wear a mask because they won't do any good?
Maybe we're just celebrating how "flexible" he is?
Note - yesterday was Wrong Way Corrigan Day. Maybe that's all this is - a bunch of accidental directions.

Keep Calm and Stay Away.
I'll be back tomorrow.

16 July 2020 - Plague Journal Day 126

Micah 6:8
Psalm 96
Yes, your life matters.

We all are still sheltering in place, but I'm here to keep you sane and entertained.

One of the writing projects I have going now is to write a poem for each book of the Bible. I'm not that far along, really, but I thought I'd share this one here:

Psalms

A book of hymns.
A book of prayers.
Why do we sing?
Why do we pray?
We sing for Joy – we sing from Joy.
We pray for Joy – we pray from despair.
We sing and pray to You, Lord, because
You are Great, You are Good.
You are Goodness and Power, You are God.
We sing and pray to You, Lord, because
We are small, afraid, sinful, and oppressed.
We are in need – we need You.
We pour out our Love and Need and Anguish
and we seek to be filled with Your
    Love and Power and Joy.
We pray – not to change You, to use a magic spell to get our way.
No.
We pray that You would change us,
that You would work Your Will in us,
that You would dwell in us,
to make us more like Jesus.

By the way, do you think it's just a coincidence that today is both World Snake Day and National Stress Awareness Day? It's just too appropriate to be accidental.

Keep Calm and Stay Away.
I'll be back tomorrow.
